To live a long and healthy life, what should be your weight?
Your ideal body weight is thought to be the weight that gives you the greatest life span. A helpful way of computing your ideal weight is to use the government's Body Mass Index. Using this formula is easy. Take your current weight in kilograms and divide by your height in meters squared. See the chart below to complete the simple formula. Those with the longest life span are in the 19-25 range. Those with a score of 25-29 are classed as overweight and those 30 and above are considered obese.
(The BMI does not work if you are less than 18 years old, a competitive athlete, a body builder, a pregnant or nursing woman, or a sedentary elderly person)
